Cheers! Finally back with a film review! (Applause, please)

Invited to watch the award-winning film ‘Scrapper’ from last year’s Sundance Film Festival, I was initially a bit concerned as I watched the trailer and felt like I might not be the target audience for ‘Scrapper.’ The movie revolves around a girl who has been fatherless since birth, relying on her mother for 12 years. After her mother’s sudden death, she starts playing hide-and-seek with social services, living alone without adult supervision. One day, her long-lost father reappears, and the story unfolds as they rebuild their relationship.

Afraid of feeling indifferent towards this film, especially since I don’t often delve into movies with a ‘father-daughter relationship’ theme, the mention of such films inevitably brings to mind the acclaimed ‘Aftersun’ from the year before. However, even with the overwhelming praise and hearing that ‘Aftersun’ made many people cry buckets in the cinema, it failed to move me. So, I cautiously accepted the challenge of watching ‘Scrapper.’
